Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland (the Foundation) is delighted to welcome three new Trustees: Elizabeth Carmichael CBE, Claire Gibson and David Johnson. They join at an exciting time for the Foundation and bring invaluable third and public sector expertise to help the organisation build on its strategy to:
- Be the best grant maker we can be.
- Reach communities traditional grant making doesn’t.
- Work with other grant makers so we can all be the best we can.
Elizabeth Carmichael, former Head of the Scottish Government Community Justice Division, described what motivated her to become a Trustee:
“I wanted to join the Board because of the Foundation’s reputation for being innovative and progressive in its approach to making grants, building local capacity and working in partnership with disadvantaged individuals and communities across Scotland.”
Chief Executive of Streetwork, Claire Gibson reflected on the importance of the Foundation’s community focus:
“It’s a privilege to join the Board of Trustees and contribute towards making a difference to the thousands of individuals, families and communities that the work of the foundation reaches. The transformational change that relationships and community can have is a constant and recurring theme in social care and one that is at the heart of the foundation’s work”
David Johnson, former Chief Executive of Waverley Care talked about the opportunity to make a real difference to people who face the greatest challenges:
“I know from my work in the third sector that the Foundation is able to play a significant role in helping support those most vulnerable members of Scottish society through its grant giving programmes. Having the chance to be part of that contribution offers a really exciting opportunity.”
