Petitions

The petitions below were submitted by groups in support of the Foundation, after the announcement that the Foundation had suspended it’s grant-making activities:

Petition on the 10 Downing Street website, the official site of the Prime Minister, submitted by Susan Ramsay of Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO):

“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to intervene to save the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland in its current form. The Foundation, a legacy from Scottish Banker Henry Duncan, provides vital support for charities across Scotland. It is wholly unacceptable for The Lloyds Banking Group (now 43% owned by the taxpayer) to attempt to undermine the independence and degrade of terms of the Foundation which was created by an Act of Parliament.”

Petition on the Scottish Parliament website, raised by Kathleen Bryson on behalf of the Lighthouse Foundation:

“Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to make representations to the banking and other private funding sectors to ensure that funding which they provide to charities is maintained in order to protect the jobs and services they provide, many of which are carried out on behalf of public bodies, and to outline how it will address any funding shortfall as a result of the current financial difficulties faced by banks and others.”
