How to Apply

There is a two-stage application process for our Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI) awards. You will need to work with your local Alcohol & Drug Partnership (ADP) to complete an initial outline application. Your ADP will send us the completed form, which needs to reach us by our deadline date. It will also be useful to read our Using the Learning to Develop a Proposal.pdf document before you fill out your application form. If you would like to discuss your outline application before you submit it, call us on 0131 444 4020 and ask to speak to one of our PDI team.

You can also apply for funding for up to three years.

Once we have received your application form, it will be considered by an expert steering group and a panel of young people. If the proposal is successful at this stage you will be invited to develop a full application. Feedback from both groups is available to successful and unsuccessful projects.

You can find out more about what happens next or request us to send you one. If you would like to have a chat with someone about this award programme please call us on 0131 444 4020.

Changes to Application Forms/Guidance

Our application forms and guidance have been revised to reflect the learning and developments of the programme. The general criteria and focus of PDI remains the same with funding looking to increase the well-being of children and young people affected by drugs and alcohol with the three target areas of support:

• Children and young people affected by parental substance issues (drugs and alcohol)
• Pre-teen children at high risk of developing problems with drugs and alcohol
• Young people who are developing or have established substance use problems (drugs and alcohol)

Projects will still need to identify 50% matched funding for proposals and support and endorsement from the ADP is also a requirement for receiving support.

However we have adapted the application form to help us better understand the planning stages of your project. This includes using the Weaver’s Triangle tool as a plan to show how and what you are looking to achieve and deliver, and your plans on the long-term sustainability for the service.

Our programme staff are here to help you understand and develop your proposal. Please seek their support and advice prior to developing an application. They will arrange to meet with you to talk through the form and answer any questions throughout the entire process.

Our continuation forms and guidance have changed to reflect our emphasis on understanding and demonstrating the impact and outcomes achieved for children and young people by your project. Our programme staff again will be in touch with eligible projects to talk though the changes to continuation process and form in more detail.
