Seasonal boost for charities with awards of £920,000
Scottish charities are celebrating a much needed seasonal boost with awards from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. Over £920,000 has been awarded to 75 charities in the last round of Foundation funding this year.
Mary Craig, the Foundation’s Deputy Chief Executive, said: “This is a tough time of year for many charities as their services are often stretched even more thinly than usual. All our awards are driven by the needs of Scotland’s charities so we know our money will make a real difference to people’s lives.
“These awards are paying for everything from office rent and running costs to helping a Riding for the Disabled Association look after the horses and ponies they need to provide their services. Many of our awards are helping to pay for salaries, providing much needed security for employees, the charities themselves and the people they support. Hopefully these awards will mean all the charities we’re supporting end 2008 on a high and can continue their great work in 2009.”
