Welcome to our first electronic newsletter. Open communication is at the heart of this Foundation. Our aim is simple, we want our support in its various forms to be accessible to all charities which fall within our scope.
2007 was a year of strategic development for the Foundation, and we seek to be more innovative and collaborative as we enter a new year. Past successes, such as Partnership Drugs Initiative and assisting the creation of Evaluation Support Scotland, alongside other instances have given Trustees an ambition to break further new ground. The potential for an independent funder such as the Foundation to create environments for good ideas to develop and flourish has never been better. The interest in philanthropy in Scotland is growing and its power to make lives better is immense.
In 2008, we will launch a new venture philanthropy fund. Its ability to attract both private and government resources to create real and lasting change sets it apart and provides exciting opportunities for charities in Scotland to do great work.

Annual Trustees' Dinner
Norman Drummond, Chair, speaking at the dinner
|
We held our ninth Annual Trustees' Dinner on Thursday, 6th December at the George Hotel in Edinburgh.
The Dinner provided the Trustees with an opportunity to meet key figures in Scotland, principally in the voluntary sector.
Netta MacIver, from Turning Point Scotland, and Des Ryan, from Edinburgh Cyrenians Trust, spoke about the real impact their work has on people's lives across Scotland.

Dates for the diary
As you are probably already aware, we hold funding surgeries across Scotland, giving people the opportunity to discuss their application before it is submitted.
With over 80 opportunities a year to get face to face support with your application, as well as the option of speaking to someone by phone, we do our very best to help.
You don’t need to come to a funding surgery – it’s not something we take into account when we assess your application – but generally people who have been to a surgery complete better applications and so are more likely to receive an award.
Please click here to view the Surgery Tour schedule.
We can also confirm new deadline dates for this year.
...don't forget if you would like to attend a surgery, please call our office to book an appointment on 0870 902 1201.

Launch of Inspiring Scotland
|
We'll be launching Inspiring Scotland on the 29th January 2008.
Inspiring Scotland is an exciting new undertaking that is being led by Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. It has been developed from the knowledge gained through our work, what we have heard from the voluntary sector over the last 22 years, and learning from venture philanthropy models in Australia, the USA and Europe. This work seeks to address some of the challenges that face organisations who are working hard to make Scotland a better place, and more importantly to help them make the difference they are striving to achieve. For more information look at www.inspiringscotland.org.uk
We have new members of staff in the Inspiring Scotland team:
Helen Chambers has moved from working on the Drugs and Alcohol Programme to becoming the Head of Policy and Government Relations. Janice Reilly is Head of Investor Relations.
Susan Bell, Louise Hannigan,Danny Phillips and Celia Tennant are our Performance Advisors.
Steve Falla is currently spending half his time working on the delivery of the programme and Catriona Henderson is providing communication support.
